MoPo (aka Motion Potion aka Robbie Kowal) is undeniably
one of America's most versatile, experienced and hands
down joyous party rockers. His decade long mission has
been to connect the casual music fan with the hard core
dance music mavens while proving that dance music
is more than just beats. It’s a culture and
a lifestyle. He has remixed artists ranging from Radiohead & Deep
Purple to Widespread Panic & the Talking Heads. He
is known for his edits and for choosing the biggest baddest
breaks, hooks and drops to create a sound that truly gets
the room shaking. To the dancer, MoPo is a breath of fresh
air, often galvanizing a room into collective song or crowd
chant, with hooks that connects the audience to the show.
MoPo has that very rare ability to instinctively know what
to play and when to play it. His broad musical
knowledge and expertise with a wide variety of genres along
with a shameless love for the music that helps him to seamlessly
meld his sets into a sumptuous but coherent blend. These
talents have made him a trailblazer for Djs especially
in the live music arena. He is a perfect compliment to
the live band experience. He has enjoyed being resident
DJ at the last 6 Bonnaroo Festivals; he was the first DJ
to play Gathering of the Vibes, High Sierra, Berkfest,
Caribbean Holidaze, Mid Atlantic Music Experience, Rothbury
and has appeared at seminal rock events such as Jamcruise,
the Dave Matthews Cruise, and Govt. Mule’s “Deepest
End” show. A live turntablist for the indie techno
circus The Mutaytor, MoPo has also sat in with Parliament-Funkadelic,
Galactic, Rebirth Brass Band and Garaj Mahal. He opened
for rock, funk and jam acts such as Maceo Parker, Widespread
Panic, String Cheese Incident, Femi Kuti, Sheryl Crow,
Spearhead, Jurassic 5, Isaac Hayes, Blackalicious, Govt
Mule and Soulive..
